Question by *Miss.Bree*: i feed my turtles worms, and was thinking about making a worm farm…?
hi, i have 3 eastern long-necked turtles, and i feed them a very mixed diet. i bought them a container of worms the other day from the pet shop and because i dont feed them worms everyday, i was wondering if i make a worm farm to keep them in, would the worms still be safe for my turtles to eat?

also, how would i go about setting up a worm farm? does anyone have any simple steps?

I don’t see why not and you would have the benefit of good compost for your potted plants as a bonus.

I would suggest buying a 10 gallon tank, which are on sale at my Pet Store for 10$ , and buy some good soft dirt and put it in the container. You now can either buy a worm farm kit or go out and get some of your own worms.
TIP: Make sure the dirt is soft and not hard chunks or the worms will have hard times burrowing.
TIP: Use a metal mesh top on the tank, Just in case…….
TIP: If you hunt down your own worms, get ALLOT so you be sure you have at least 1 male and 1 female.
TIP: Don’t completely delete Leafy greens and small amounts of fruit from the diet. Add worms in 2 a week maybe.

do not use an aquarium, they won’t get enough air, and do not use straight dirt, the worms you want live in organic compost.
I’ve been farming worms for my pets a long time. It’s not hard as long as you follow the tried and true instructions of those who’ve been doing it a long time.
dont overfeed or over water or let them get too hot
