Well good luck with your duck! here is a few links to that:
you need maybe a baby pool and fill it with water so it can swim . go to like tracktor supplie and ask for babie duck food they know exsactly what you are talking about he needs water and a place to stay at night or when your child is not playing with him so he wont get lost
The information on all of the above applies to ducklings as well, just make sure that you do not get medicated feed (with coccistat) for your duckling as this is good for chicks but poisonous to ducklings. You should be able to buy this non medicated chick starter at a feed store such as TSC (US), or Jolleys (UK).
I have 3 ducks in my bathtub, cute but6 they are very messy, need a constant source of water and eat if they are not sleeping or playing in their water dish. being an animal lover I am so sorry I didn`t goggle info. first. they are social, that’s why I have more than one. they cannot be released as easily as i was told, other mother ducks will not accept them. cannot leave them go in my fenced in yard as they will eat everything. they imprint on you and cannot be just dropped off. went back to the feed store to buy more food and talked a couple out of buying one, when i asked he what she was going to do with it she said she wanted to hold it and pet it. these are NOT dogs and cats and after a week or so do not like being held. they also are pooping if they are not eating or sleeping. make sure your daughter washes her hands, you can get sick , as these are farm animals. i wear rubber gloves when cleaning their area. If it is not too late, Return it, tell you daughter if she has seen it that it misses its family. No denying they are cute, but they should not be sold as seasonal pets. I should have known better, got caught up in the cuteness now I HAVE to keep them till they are old enough to find them a home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a duck before, you need to get a small pool so the duck can swim around. You have to get duck feed at a TSC somewhere. hope this works
