Here I show you what you need to gather to make wine. To sum up or clarify a few points: — I use 5 pounds of fruit per gallon of wine, so to make a 6-Gallo…

I watched your other video, thats alot of wine. I only hope I could do as well someday. Very interested in how to make the reds because there much more difficult, I didn’t do so well this first time. Just got done fertilizing all my vines looking forward to a good harvest this year, really appreciate the videos.
I have 4 vines that I planted 5 summers ago: 1 white grape, 1 red, and 2 Concord. So far, only 1 of the Concords have produced significant amounts for me…I got about 20 pounds this past Fall from that vine.
The grapes in this video are from a friend who lives about a mile away but doesn’t do winemaking anymore.
I’ve been buying lots of grapes for wine the last few years, I wait until they are 99 cents a pound, but I’ve even found them for 79 cents if you know where to look.
Do you grow your own grapes? I have planted about 14 vines and got about 3 gallons total last year, hopefully this year I will get more. It may take me 5 years before I can make a fairly good amount. The white grapes seem to grow much faster, the reds are slow. I’m new to making wine eventhough I did work at a couple winneries here in northern Ca many years back.
That’s interesting. I have a brother and sister who live in North Carolina, and there is a special grape there called “Muscadine Grapes” aka “Scuppernong” I believe. The Duplin Winery in NC specializes in that grape. They have a lot of varieties of wines. I took a tour there and they are nice people who make some great wine.
We have wild grapes here called mustang grapes, a green variety. They used to make wine out of them but no one has the recipe anymore. There’s something you have to do to them because of something in the skin. For instance if you get the juice in your eye it burns very bad. Despite that they are often used in jams.
I’ve got some Apple Wine nearly ready to bottle, as well as apples sliced up and frozen for a new batch, which will be my next project after I move this Concord Grape batch into Secondary Fermentation.
Oh I will for sure. I love home chemistry. I was telling one of my neighbors about this vid and immediately after he say’s ‘I’ve got a recipe for hard cider, it’s really easy!’ He was so excited. Personally I think it’s still too hot for cider but once it cools off I may have a video response 😉
Tonight I will put the grapes into the bucket to thaw, and that will make them really mushy…bad for eating but great for winemaking (that also saves me from having to stomp them barefoot; something everyone will appreciate me NOT doing 🙂
Then basically it will be me combining all these items together with a couple gallons of boiling water…stay tuned!

Hail Petros! Talk about someone to have around in times of social and economic collapse. I’m impressed.
This didn’t come out in my subs until this afternoon. YT’s slacking again, lol.
