  4. @jakeanddar i strained my grape juice/wine but it still has gooy gunk on the bottom, so i strained it 2 more times but it seems to keep making the gunk. What do I do now, strain it again?

Use baker’s yeast from the store, is cheap. And instead of grape Juice just disolve cane sugar in water. There has to be a recipe online. Probabl about 1-1.5 glasses of sugar in 1 gallon of water. that will get you a ~12% ethanol sugary solution for like under 1 dollar. Is not good alone but can be mixed with other stuff to make cocktails

I don’t think so if you filter it. The store grape juice is Concord grapes. They say to get tasty wine out of it you have to bottle and store for some time. At least 6 months, but 1-2 years is optimal, all that wild taste will go away with aging.
Ideally you want to make a few gallos every year, store it, and star consuming in the 2nd year so you allways have relatively good wine for like 1-2 dollars per bottle.

  10. @fabianromano hey after it stopped bubbling I let it sit for a week then I started filtering it. It smells like alcohol no doubt, is it going to turn into vinegar?

After it stops bubbling you have to close the lid tight so oxygen can not get in and go for another 2 weeks at least. That is the anaerobic fermentation part, and that is when alcohol is made, before that the yeast was just growing.

Yeast don’t survive more than 12% alcohol .The way drinks with more than 12% are made is, they make a 12% drink by fermenting, and then they DISTILL to concentrate the alcohol.

  19. @emmettebrown You can use bread yeast from the store that is cheap, or you can leave the bottle open outside for an afternoon, and wild yeast will get into the juice and ferment it. to get the ethanol out you’d need to distill it which is more complicated. You can buy ethanol at the drug store for like $1 it’s just denated with a little bit of stuff so you can’t drink it.

  25. Wine making yeast won’t survive at high alcohol levels, your end product will just have a bunch of residual sugar left. I’d slow your roll and go out and purchase some Mad Dog, buddy.
