Enough honey to make 5 gallons of honey wine (mead) costs around 45-75 dollars depending on how strong you want to make it. Also Honey having medicinal properties has not been documented. The reason honey has “anti-bacterial” properties is because of its high viscosity and high acidity. If you dilute honey with distilled water it will become infected and go bad quite fast.
My grandmother used to make dandelion wine…this brings back memories. I have her recipe and now I guess there is no excuse to put it off any longer. 🙂 Thanks.
bakers’ yeast and brewers’ yeast are the same organism so it must be in your head that the wine tastes different. Saccharomyces cerevisiae – yeast is yeast, by any other name
I don’t have a problem with how you made this and i am sure it turned out good but the only thing i had a problem with was I felt like with the honey this would be technically be called a mead

I am fairly sure you could. and the sugar on them won’t change anything. Sugar is yeast food.

all wine has sulfur or sulfates, it is a natural by product of the wine making process

This looks like it is going to turn out to be the first beige wine I’ve ever seen. Or perhaps a dandylion mead.

Do not use dandelions on from a yard that receives pesticides/herbicides. The flower will absorb all compounds in the ground indiscriminately.

I was wondering why you froze your dandilion flowers rather than drying them?

O.O that’s a lot of honey you must have some beekeeper friends because honey is not at all cheap so I’d feel better using sugar.
