Here’s how I canned blackberry syrup. It’s real good and can be used on ice cream, pancakes, waffles, etc. My steam juicer is made by Cook N Home and I chose…

Hello, what size bottles did you use for the blackberry syrup? I have a
freeze full of blackberrys. I usually just make jelly. But would like to
try the syrup. I would like to find the food strainer for my kitchen aid
mixer; seeing as i have carpal tunnel; hurts to bag for me to squeeze them.
Thanks.
you have turned me into canning Susan. I did not think I have it in me to
do all this. But, your videos are so inspiring, I have to do it. Makes me
proud to be a woman, just seeing of what you can do.
Do you have a recipe for peach syrup? How do I get the rest of your videos?

I know you like the book, Putting Food By, and am wondering if I could use
the steam juice extractor for the jams/jellies and hopefully the Blueberry
extravaganza recipes in there instead of cooking it as they show. I just
got one and noticed you using it in another video – thanks – Don’t know how
to ask them
You must have us all hooked on these jars and canning syrup – the 12 ounce
BBQ sauce/syrup jars are out until the first of July 14 – – – LOL – that’s
a lot of jars they’ve been going thru!!!
If you’re short on time, you can always freeze those blackberries and do it
later. I was juicing mine each night and freezing the juice until I had
enough to justify canning it.
I’ve been awfully busy with the garden coming in. I’ve also been working on
another project that I think ya’ll are going to like. It should be a lot of
fun. I’ll be coming out with that one soon 🙂
I’m not sure what a bottle of the syrup would be worth. Are you asking
because you want to sell it or buy it? If you want a bottle, PM me your
address and I’ll send you one, free of charge. I can’t extend that offer to
everyone though because I only have so many and my blackberries are done
now.
You get about half as much juice out of the berries as what you start with.
For example, a gallon of berries will end up a little more than half a
gallon of juice. I didn’t use the strainer after juicing the blackberries.
What I showed in the video was about mid-way of the berries being steamed.
They eventually collapse into a mush when the juice has been pulled out of
them.
I’ll have to try that. I saw your elderberry video. I can’t remember if I
commented on it. At some point I couldn’t get comments to go through on any
videos. It seems like everybody has elderberries except me. I don’t think
they grow here, I’ve never seen them. Maybe I’ll have to buy some dried
ones like you did.

We don’t have elderberries here so I’m really not familiar with them but
I’d think it would work.

Actually, this doesn’t take all that much effort. It’s one of the easiest
things to can.

It ends up a good consistency. Watch the ice cream at the end for an idea
of how thick it is.

I love gadgets and that Victorio food strainer is one of my all time
favorites. It makes canning a lot of things a breeze.
