Question by sailor2001nz: How sustainable is organic farming for the western world?
How important are pesticides & fertilizers to maximise our yields? Is ‘organic’ only ever going to be a luxury for the wealthy?

  1. No, because organic food is a luxury item and out of reach for most people. For the same cost, is a working-class mother going to buy a bag of regular apples or a single organic apple?

  2. The more people buy organic, the more sustainable the industry will be.
Even if you just change one or two things that you buy you are supporting what really is a necessary industry.
