Question by Miley: How old can a Goat live up to?
My friends goat died at 17 from an unknown casue so I want to know how old they can really live. Cuz 17 is kinda young!
Feel free to answer in the comment section below
In animal years, 17 is considered around 60 or 70. I would say the average life of a goat can round up to 19 or maybe even 20. Hope this helps!

actually 17 is kinda old the average life span of a goat is 15 to 18 so your unknown cause was most likely old age

the average lifespan of a goat is 12-14 years.
so i would say it died of old age.. if you take good care of them it is about 16. so 17 is really good for a goat..
OK to all you goat experts.. i want to see these so called “20 year old goats”
I know people who have bred for 50 years.. 16 is the oldest they have ever had.. and by then.. the does barely had any teeth, their weight drops, and they barely move around.
and yes as stated bucks dont’ live long.. but i would say 8 is good for a buck.. but i know of a 10 year old buck..
and 8 is aged for a dairy doe I think.. most are retired at 9.

Depending on the breed and care of the animal its usually between 7-20 years old.

Hey Miley, if you are really Miley Cyrus… haha
Umm, yeah that is about the age a goat lives to.
If they are really healthy then they can live up to 20, but that is not typical.
Your friend was lucky to have a goat that lived such a long and hopefully happy life.

I hate to say this, but animals which are actively breeding and kidding every year often don’t live to be 10. Many of the bucks (intact males) only live to be 6 or 7 and the dairy does are often considered aged animals at 6 years old.
