Family first, that’s the reason behind this single American Coot that has stayed behind to raise the young. I’ve been watching her for several weeks and thought it was really strange that she was the only one of her kind to be seen. According to bird books "huge flocks of up to 1000 birds weather and migrate during the winter together" yet here she is. She recently moved to another pond and now, there’s a smaller, much lighter colored version of the mom. She stayed behind to care for her young.
Question by gokart121: How much of a financial burden do you percieve illegal immigration to be in your state?
Are you content with legislators raising taxes to perpetually fund other countries’ citizens? What has happened in your community over the last couple years?
Feel free to answer in the comment section below
Texas spends for illegals in the BILLIONS.

none on the illegals, they like to spend money! But the gas issue is what is hurting people where i come from.. and that has nothing to do with illegals.

the only thing that goes up is taxes, and it is because our govt is like a kid in a candy store. they raise taxes for any excuse….its not necessarily because of illegals either, hello?

AZ is grabbing the spending bull by the horns. Prop 200 went into law.
If you want state help you have to provide a certified U.S. birth certificate from the state you were born in.
Don’t have it can’t get help

Billions here.
No I can not afford the constant taxes.
Our little area is changing and we are demanding more enforcement of laws-and naming officers and chiefs by name in the paper who have been ducking the issue–some are paying attention and doing their job now.

Illegal immigration is a huge burden. It costs cities lots of money – more police and social services are needed. It costs the state government money – they need to have a court system that can handle more cases, and need anti-terrorism resources (here in New Jersey, many illegals come from the Middle East – while most aren’t terrorists, the gov’t has to stay vigilent).
And if amnesty is ever granted, there will be so much social security / unemployment to pay out that states would be drained – imagine illegal construction workers going on unemployment everytime a job ends, before the next one starts…

I’m in So. Cal, so they definitely drain our economy. From housing to medical to aid.

What hard data do you have to prove they are a debit and not a credit?
Do you think they might have anything to do with our exploding #1 in the world economies?
There is no way to really quantify if they are a boon or a burden.

Enormous!
Mexicans in California send their wages home. That money is no longer in our economy.
The cost in Hospital Care is much greater than the financial contributions Mexicans make to our society.
Then factor in the cost of attempting to educate the children of illegals, who will drop out of school at the rate of 50%. Who takes up the slack for all of these uneducated children? We United States CITIZENS who play by the rules. I could go on and on. The cost of incarceration is also enormous! The cost is in the Billions of dollars…Billions and Billions!

I live in a border state, and we have hospitals that are closing, and others in danger of closing, because the ILLEGALS,run up bills and do NOT pay them!!! Our welfare system has almost dried up,from all these YEARS of having illegals SPONGE off the system!! You want a good example??? Look up the article on the Copper Queen hospital!!!! It tells you EXACTLY how illegals ABUSE our system!!!!

Gokart, you are really hung up on this issue.
Well, California has about the 6th highest GNP in the world, much of due to Mexican labor. So, I’d thank them. But the proper credit is:
Mucho gracias Gringo Corporate Neo Con Amigos for your Union Busting Illegal Employment Practices!
When and if there is enforcement of employment laws and there won’t be jobs for illegals. And when that happens this country is going to have super market price shock!

I live in Southern California, We are now occupied. I don’t recognize my city anymore. All the good supermarkets have gone, restaurants are gone. Everything caters to the Mexicans. Even the public library. Over 60% of the books are in Spanish. There is a large Vietnamese community too. Alot of the older asians speak only Vietnamese, but there are no books for them. Many of the houses on my block look like junk yards, old cars, old refrigerators etc. We used to have block parties on the 4th of July. Hot dogs, baseball games etc. Not anymore. I had the only house flying the American flag. But there were plenty of illegal fire works. I am scared to go to the 7-11 on the corner because of the gangs that hang out there. I am being forced to sent my daughter to a private school because the spanish speakers are holding the english speakers back. I feel like I live in a foreign country. As far as a financial burden, I can’t even begin. Free breakfasts, free lunches, free medical care, low income housing,k low interest loans, low income utility bills. I could go on and on.

Why dont you ask the GAO where all the pay roll tax and SSN money goes if mexicans can’t claim it at retirement?
Do they really have a surplus?

Enough that we are building a fence to stop the burden.
It’s become a hell hole.
