we’re visiting my sister’s farm. she raises goats & stuff, out in the sticks.
Question by Laura: How much does it cost to raise goats?
How much does it cost a year for you per goat? Food, vet, everything. I want to raise goats for milk (not meat) so I’ll probably have 2 females and 1 male and were just wondering how much they cost to keep.
Also, how many acres do you think I need for 3 goats?
What do you think? Answer below!
You don’t really need a lot of land or money. They do best in a wooded area. They love to eat leaves and brush. They prefer that over grass any day. They are great to have for brush control. In the summer you shouldn’t have to feed them anything. But in winter they will need grain and hay. But, they don’t really eat a whole lot. All the years I had goats none of them needed vet assistance. I vaccinated and wormed them myself. I did get them dehorned when they were babies though. Hope this helps.
