  1. there is no number of times mating that will guarantee pregnancy (infertility happens) Once is sufficient if timing is correct (this can be confirmed by progesterone testing) some breed 2-3 times over several days to raise the chances of correct timing instead of testing.
AS for if he’ll lknowwhat to do 1 yr is very young and eespeciallyin slow maturing breeds may be too young for him to have the birds & bees figured out – and occasionally too young for him to have any INTEREST in figuring out the bird & bees
In fact this is too young for good rresultson many of the health screens needed for many breeds – and you should not breed without them…

  2. If your breeding expertise consists of putting two dogs in a room until they “stick together”, then you should seriously rethink this.
It’s irresponsible to breed simply for profit or for the fun of it. Think about WHY you are doing this.
Unless the dog is a purebred and you intend to show him or his offspring, or unless the dog has specific and useful traits (hunting, herding, or tracking skills) that you need passed along to future generations, then there really isn’t any need to breed.
There are thousands of dogs available for free or almost-free in shelters across the coutnry; thousands more are put to sleep every year because they are unwanted.

  3. Um, trust me, its very hard for a true stud dog to not know what he’s doing… Lol.

Usually 3 times is good. But make sure they do it all in one day, and no breeding the days after! Or you could get dead puppies because they were born too soon.

Also, make sure you know what you’re doing before doing it. Read books, research it on the internet, get advice.
