Question by Turkey: How does one raise a turkey?
I have had chickens for a good wile now, and I decided to purchase a turkey. I am not positive as to what a turkey requires. Can they be treated just as you would treat a chicken? Are there any specifics that I should know when caring for this animal?

  1. Turkeys are similar to chickens except they are stupid. If you raise them you will understand what I said.

  2. Don’t keep them in your back garden, they are pretty noisey.

  3. Turkeys are quite easy to raise, even with very little knowledge of the bird. But what ever you do, don’t ever tell them the story about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving!

  4. To raise a Turkey – simply put both hands under it gently, then lift until you reached the desired height. I would recommend not raising it to your face, should the Turkey feel the need to beak your eyes out.

  5. I raise Bourbon Red turkeys. You can raise them just like a chicken. Mine are very smart and friendly. If the chicken noise does not bother you the turkey goobles will not either. Mine get fed game bird feed for extra nutrition. Which is needed if you plan on breeding. I love my turkeys and so do my kids.
