because there are plants that are grown under water{seeweed} and some that are grown in water that stick out{lilypads}
Well you sow a seed, water and fertilize it; in somewhat X months a produce is ready for cropping, that is farming and in the similarly you house fish seed in water, feed it and in somewhat X months a fish is cropped. So they do not relate, they are one and the same.

Aquaculture is the farming of fish, seafood, etc..
