I’m not 100% sure on this, but I’m pretty close more like 90%, but I don’t think you have any control over your metabolism. I think that’s 100% genetic dependent. And it also has to do with your age, as well, you lose it as you get older. You can however change your diet and gain more energy.
Making your own fruit smoothies is a good way to get more energy. Slim Fast will always give you more energy and eating more fruits and vegetables, in general, will give you more energy. Also don’t forget about your 8 hours of sleep a night, that will recharge your body and brain and allow you to function well the next day.
Also if you’re like me and need a little help waking up in the morning, skip the coffee and eat a well-balanced breakfast. Eggs, Orange Juice, and toast is an awesome way to wake up and feel refreshed.
Exercise of course. The more muscle mass/definition there is, the mroe energy the body requires to maintain.
Worried about muscles getting too big, then bike or swim or hiking.
I’m trying to gain weight, but that is proving difficult to accomplish.

drink a glass of hot water with a squeeze of lemon juice, it is highly recommended to boost your metabolism, but exercising and eating less will help too.
Excersize and you could try adding cayenne pepper to your diet. It naturally speeds up the metabolism… Bee Pollen Vitamins, Raw Garauna, all natural…..also…
DRINK WATER – In addition to eating more often throughout the day, make sure you drink lots of water, at least 8 glasses a day. Sip slowly throughout the day. Water speeds up metabolism and flushes toxins out of your body. Your body must have plenty of water in order to work at its most efficient level.
*EAT FIBER – High-fiber foods absorb substances containing sugars, fats, carbohydrates, and the calories associated with them, speeding up the movement of food through the body; this also speeds up weight loss. High-fiber foods include whole fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grain breads, cereals, wheat germ, barley and brown rice. Always check food labels for fiber content.
*EAT PROTEIN – A large percentage of calories from protein are burned off in the digestion process (this is called the thermic effect food). Of all the nutrients our body ingests, protein has the highest thermic effect. Eat lean meats, poultry and fish.
*EAT HEALTHY FATS – Monounsaturated fats do not raise blood cholesterol levels and are an excellent source of antioxidants. Monounsaturated fats are, in fact, required for the body in order to function effectively. Replace butter and other fat with extra virgin olive oil in cooking and baking. Season your olive oil with garlic and/or herbs and spices.
*AVOID CARBS BEFORE BEDTIME – Carbohydrates provide fuel for your body. When your body does not need them for energy, it stores them as fat. Eating carbs before bedtime will result in excess fat, something you DO NOT want.
*EXERCISE –The easiest exercise that will benefit anyone regardless of their fitness level, that can be done inside or outside, is walking. A brisk walk can burn as many calories as jogging, but does not have the risk for injury that jogging does. As an aerobic exercise, walking revs up the metabolism and keeps it going even after you have stopped.

yeah…ahhh….eating every 2-3 hours plus excercising…
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that’s how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
When you hit the age of 25-30, your natural metabolism already begins slowing itself down. This is the best time to start a moderate excersise program to prevent the future onset of heart disease. Just taking a brisk walk for 30min a day can prevent the possibility of diabetes, help speed up metabolism, and give you a good cardio workout that will help improve circulation of blood and oxygen in the blood. To gain the energy you want to actually get off the couch and exercise, you NEED carbohydrates (contrary to the popular beliefs in the Atkins diet) but in moderation (to prevent an overabundance of fat and sugar in your body {carbs break down into sugar}), and you need proteins. Carbs are more of your pastas and breads, while proteins are more of your meat, beans, and peanut butter. Don’t overindulge in sugars, fats. or carbs as this can make you feel bloated and lazy. (Think of piggin out for Thanksgivin…you don’t want to walk the dog, you want to take a nap) 😉 The best thing to remember is to just read the labels. If you want something like popcorn don’t eat the whole bag. Pour out the recomended serving size and share or save the rest for the birds to gather around in your backyard. Eat breakfast…you know the speel and it is true. Add a fruit to ur breakfast to get ur sweet tooth satisfied while adding rich vitamins to your body for the day. So what if u want a Snickers bar? Don’t eat it when you know you’ll need your energy and don’t eat it before bed when you need your rest. And don’t eat the whole bar either. Just eat half…hey, you’ll have more for tomorrow too.
add HIIT (high intensity interval training) this type of running will boost ur metabolism and keep u burning calories for the next 24 hours. u just warm up for 5 mins then run as fast as u can for 30 secs then jog for 30 sec. Repeat this process 5-6 times
this is a really difficult prog if ur not in good shape dont do it

sorry, but eating 6 small meals a day and working out, especially with weights, is pretty much it. there are no shortcuts, unfortunately.

One of the best (safest, most healthy) ways to increase metabolism is to increase your muscle mass. Larger muscles require more energy.
