Question by jasoncalacanis: how do you remove a beehive?
I live in southern California and I woke up to a beehive outside my door today. How do I get rid of this thing?
What do you think? Answer below!
Are they honey bees? If they are, look in the phone book for a “pest remover” He, or she, will have a list of bee keepers to bring them to. If they’re wasps, spray.

call a insect extinguisher to come out and get rid of it.

Had a similar problem myself. If it is on your property call a qualified pest control person and get a recommendation. If it’s on city property (like a tree that’s just off your property) call the city and tell them to get rid of it.
It’s going to cost a couple of hundred bucks, but doing it yourself is not as easy as “spray and run.” Bees and wasps are driven by scents, and even though the hive is gone, the scent will remain. You’ll likely find a new hive in the same spot next year.

What type of bee is it? If it is honeybees, then any beekeeper would probably do it for free if they can keep the bees. If is is wasps just spray them. If it is hornets, then burn them out at night. What does the next look like? Can you describe it?

If it is a grey nest with bees coming and going it is wasps–get a wasp spray it gets rid of them instantly and so quickly they can’t sting you. If it is cone shaped brownish and growing it is probably honey bees–call a bee keeper.

Use smoke to keep them in place then suck them up in a hand vacuum. Bee keepers do this.
