I want to produce chicken eggs by feeding the chickens on only alfalfa. How do I do the in the Michigan winters?

  1. Grow alfalfa in trays. I have some round plastic trays with ridges on the bottom. I think the ridges just keep the seeds from rolling around. The tray has a drain that lets only enough water sit in the tray but not cover the seeds. These trays were made specifically for this. I have used them to grow wheat too. I can’t remember where I purchased them, its been too many years ago. But they were actually for growing sprouts for salads.
