Processing 280 Chickens – Cornish Cross & Red Bros at Pete and Jen Backyard Bird’s Mobile Poultry Processing Unit
Question by : How can I keep chickens in my backyard?
I live in a somewhat populated area ( a few miles north of Detroit ) and I want to keep some chickens. Do I need a permit?
Give your answer to this question below!
ask the people in your neighborhood. if you have a community center somewhere nearby, ask them. Does your neighborhood have a listserv? If so, you could ask on that. Or maybe there is a Detroit Community website. Any of those options should help.
Good luck!

Check your towns Dept. of Commerce. Usually you CAN have hens in the city but no roosters!

Ask your local police department and make sure that your neighbors would be okay with it.
