Sometimes, feeding the chickens makes for close encounters of the feathered kind!
Question by : how can i feed the wild ground birds without letting the chickens eat it?
we have a lot of chickens and we feed the wild birds too. the little birds come to the hanging feeders cardinals dont because they like the ground. they are my favorite birds, so how could i feed them and keep the chickens not locked up in the day?
What do you think? Answer below!
I can help you attract more cardinals to your yard. Buy some safflower seed and buy a platform feeder. Cardinals love safflower seeds and they will eat from a platform feeder. I have a platform feeder outside and like using the safflower seeds to attract cardinals, nuthatches, grossbeaks, and titmice. Cardinals will also eat fruits, including grapes, bananas, apples, and oranges. In addition, place some water outside for the cardinals to drink. They still need water when it’s cold outside. You can buy a heated birdbath to keep the water from freezing. If you live somewhere warm, just place some water in a shallow dish or bowl.

I would put the food in a bird bath.
