Looks fancy and shiny huh? Didn’t actually get it installed of the weekend but whatever. We did get it hooked up to the solar water heater. It has a tiny 5 gallon tank in its belly and looks rather like a nuclear powerstation when opened up. 98% efficient Eternal.
Question by Mary: how can i build a solar swimming pool heater?
I want to build a solar heater for my swimming pool. What’s the best way to go about this?

Pool heater, would have a 120v AC plug..
Solar panels are usually 12V DC.
So get solar panels, and hook them to a 12v battery (car battery/forklift battery) Or whatever suits you. Then connect battery to a 12V DC to 120VAC Power inverter..
Then plug the 120V AC plug of the pool heater into the Power Inverter.. and Viola!! Solar powered pool heater 🙂

I think some solar pool heaters pump water to a black panel which gets hot in the sun – this is how a solar hot water heater works but they don’t use pumps and use gravity because they are roof mounted. But that is pretty hard to build eg. leaks, powering pumps etc. The other answer (with an solar-electric panel powering and electric heater element) sounds better suited because it is simpler with no moving parts to break down – but be careful when working with water and electricity because it can be dangerous.

The obvious way would be to pump the water through some black water hose laid back and forth over your roof.
