Question by Joe C: How about if Obama could appoint Jim Hightower as Secretary of Agriculture?
Man, I wish he could… For those of you who don’t know him, he is someone really on the ball as far as helping the small family farmer. Hightower was around when Earl Butz, under the Nixon Administration first started rising the cost of food prices, and then as a proponent of Organic Agriculture in Texas, he lasted until about, 1991, the middle of the first Bush Administration.

  1. Would you say that, for the small family farmer, he kicked Butz? Or would you say that he handled Butz? Or perhaps, if they ever met face to face, did he kiss Butz? Just wondering.

  3. That would be my top pick for Sec’y of the USDA.

Hightower would be a definite threat to the likes of Monsanto and other multinational corporations who have global agriculture in a headlock and have been running the USDA since Reagan.
