  1. Tires are made of petroleum. Tires break down in the soil over time. The broken down tire particles become absorbed by the soil. The plants absorb infected values from the soil. My garden is considered organic and is constructed from organic materials. I’ve done my research. I would suggest doing research while considering “organic” gardening. Thanks for the reply.

  2. There is no evidence that I have found that tires poison plants. I have been growing in tires for many years. Do a search for TennZen tire gardens toxic for a blog on planting in tires.

  10. Underground watering is an awesome idea. Dear family, I would advise against using tires as part of your gardening bed… tires are made from petroleum which will seep into your soil and poison your food. Justa helpful hint.

  17. Depends on your state and area’s rules and regulations. Some places are legal, and others illegal. Check out where you live before you get upset.

  23. Great Idea. We did have 1/2 inch irrigation hose connected to the rain barrels. Then attached 1/2 drip tubing to the 1/2 inch. We spread out the drip lines every 18 inches through the garden bed. Have fun with your project!!!! 🙂

  24. OK, this is similar to what I plan to do, and I’m sure someone has a video here of it I just haven’t seen one. I plan on placing a network of tubes with holes drilled in them throughout my bed with a fill tube at the surface. I will manually get the water from my rain barrels and water but then the process of watering from underneath is the same. Same idea, minus the floats due to the layout of our land we can’t connect our barrels to our garden.
