  6. Thanks for the quick reply Matt. I’ve been on your site and it’s great! I
made a NFT system with an actual grow bed that floods and drain but maybe
it’s actually and flood and drain. I’ll send you a video of it cause it’s
unlisted and I’d love to know your opinion on it with the basil! Thanks for
    the response!

  7. Just make sure you do weight calculations so the floor doesn’t cave-in!

  8. the place we got it from was a local nursery that also supplies bulk
gravel. It was like $15 a half ton. We only got 5, 5 gallon buckets of it,
but that was the smallest amount they could charge (the half ton). Yes,
    hydroton is expensive

  9. Put some angel fish just cause they’re awesome! Is this similar to a NFT
system? How deep does the grow bed need to be for Basil and NFT? Also how
many times per day are you supposed to keep it flooding

  10. This is not similar to a NFT system at all. You can read about the
different systems on my website, just click on Hydroponics at the top. For
a NFT system with basil, i would say the you want about 3″ minimum for the
roots to grow. I flood this system once an hour, the pump is on for 15 min,
and off for 45 min. Thanks for the comments!

  13. to help break down chlorine in the water and help control nitrates you can
try adding vitamin C to your water 500 mg for every 5 gallons should help.
I got this tip off of another channel I was watching.
