  1. Have canned hot dogs before, whats ever on sale, I have added hickory smoke to mine, like the little extra flavor, about 1/4 teaspoon per jar

I have 3 quarts I canned last weekend, I’m going to wait about 2 more weeks and see how they are. I did mine in chicken broth so we will see what happens. Thank you for testing this out.
    Take care and God Bless

  8. i wonder, can you substitute hot dogs for corned beef in a hash situation? Ill be canning hash today or tomorrow and now this crazy vid has me thinking! If it tasted decent it sure would cut the cost DRAMATICALLY!!!

  9. Today was our first attempt at pressure cooking and we decided to do 3 jars packed (16) slim hot dogs and 4 jars of Smoked Sausages (8). We figured we couldn’t go wrong with already cooked items for our first attempt. The Smoked Sausages are fantastic. We haven’t tried the hot dogs yet but all in due time.

  12. Hey Iron Head. Maybe you can explain something to me. I know every blue book, or canning book says you have to cook meat for 90 minutes. But hot dogs are already cooked. Do you think cooking them for an hour and a half is a little redundant? . I know we are going to get the chatter from the Ball Blue Book bible worshipers but, do we really have to cook the ever loving shit out of our meat? do you think we can cook them for less time? and still be safe?

  14. ok I canned Jordon all beef natural casing Red hot dogs. And they swelled up just like on your video, the casing all split but that’s happens when you boil them. But when I opened them they had shrunk down to the point they were all 1 hot dog. And tasted like I boiled them for 1 ½ hours. The taste was less then what I expected. So I say it was a fail. Canning dogs may not be for all brands of wieners.

  16. I think maybe if you slit the skin of the hotdogs, they will not swell up, as the meat will have room to breath in the casing, love the video and the bacon idea is a excellent one. Thanks, will definately have to try that.

You can can wieners, ring bologna, sausage patties or sausage links. Even hamburgers. We’ve canned them all, just make sure you brown the sausage patties, links, or hamburgers before putting in jars. Add 3 T of grease from the frying to each quart jar and process 90 min at ten pounds. Ring bologna can be cold packed with a little water in ea. qt.. You brown loose hamburger and pack loosely in quart jar. Works great if you need some burger for a hot dish or sloppy joes
