This is 3 quarts of crushed tomatoes I canned using the water bath canning method. This is from 12 lbs fresh tomatoes that I grew in my garden.

  6. Ohh don’t know why they floating? I kinda chopped mine lossely & then boiled them for 10-15 min because I wanted them soft & crushed. I would have put them in pints but I did not have any at the time & I had the quarts~so it worked ok. I will just used them in larger pots of Chili, Spaghetti sauces & soups. I usually do those in big batches anyway. Now want to do some & can it. Hope you are doing ok. Hugs

  8. That looks very, VERY familiar. We’ve got well over 100 qts of canned tomatoes, plus a ton of regular juice, V8 juice or whatever we had at the time to go in the jars, and soup starter. I think I heard my wife say something about me NOT planting so many again, or else. Surely I misunderstood her ? hehehe ;-)

  21. Paula~Did you check Walmart? They have small PC for Canning/Summer season. At least ours do. They had the Presto 16 qt for 64.00 about. I did not PC these tomatoes though. But most other veggies you have to. My hubby bought me one from Walmart for Mother’s Day gift~but I just got it a couple days ago. That is what I wanted & this was all we could afford right now. If I could ever find an All-American used that I could afford I would jump at it. Gotta find that Cam 2 share with ya’ll.

  25. I did not even water bath them~but this is how I did it & I know people who do it that way & it works for them & my jars did seal quickly. My tomatoes were boiling very hard & I did each jar quickly & then sealed it & then moved to the next jar. Please do it the way you feel safe. If I can find my camera~then I will do a vid when my other tomatoes come ripe. Hope this helps. Take care
