Hi i live in the uk and have just started making wine at home well im doing my first batch anyway i have watched lots of vids on here and i think yours are the best so thank you
@countryboywithguitar Some people have had luck with that. I can’t get it to work, I keep turning it into jello. There are a few vids on youtube that talk about it. weirdbeer has one on his channel.

WITH ALL THE KINDS WINE OUT THERE AND THE CRAZY NAMES LOL…THE ONE I’M HAVEING TROUBLE WITH IS SOME NAMES OF THE CONCORD WINE …BECAUSE THAT IS ONE I WANT TO TRY AND MAKE..THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME AT THIS AND I WOULD LIKE TO GET THE RITE STUFF… BECAUSE YOU SEEM TO BE RITE ON TOP OF IT..TKS …P.S ALSO LOVE THE VIDEO WITH THE LADYS …HI LADYS
any one with experience in making the various types of alchohol, which is the easiest to make, beer, liquor or wine? just wondering which would be the best to start with as im looking into this hobby.
@chino4644 To make a port you need to stop fermentation when the ABV reaches about 5-6%ABV then you add Brandy or Cognac to bring the ABV to 19 or 20% then add sugar syrup to sweeten. You might also want to bulk age if for a year with french oak cubes. This is how Port is made traditionally. Only thing is when they fortifie it they use Neutral grape spirits or basicly 98% alcohol made from grapes. Since thats almost impossible to get use brandy which is distilled wine
@gunmadkiller First of all get a hyrometer. They are $6 and they are a must have if you want to do things right. Also its hard to get wine to 20% as most wine yeast will die out at around 14%. Thier are acouple though that can get to 18% To get thier you need to syrup feed your wine.(read up on that) To get to 20% you need a total of 35 cups of sugar or 15and 1/2 Lb of sugar(2.25 cups of sugar=Aprox 1lb) added in stages. Unless your making a dessert wine 20% ABV will taste like shit.
When I make wine I never Monitor the Temp. Just make sure your in the low to mid 70’s and your fine. Colder then that and you will slow fermentation, but slow fermentation can be a good thing as you will get better tasting wine
Midwest Supplies is a great place to buy kits. Sorry to plug them on your post Craig. The are a great site though. I started making beer after I watched your videos. Im thinking about wine but, I dont wanna buy more equipment 🙁 The directions I read say use a 7.5 – 8 gallon primary. Is that true?
love all your videos, started watching them because im thinking about starting beer… i’ve been brewing wine for 3 years now just checking this video series just cause… =D… but anyways i normaly brew non-grape wines from scratch my favorites of mine are banana, cranberry, and blueberry… i might make a video(s) on the next wine i make (probably cranberry seeing how i have juice ready to do it) I’ll have to send you a link once i do…
