So we made a few changes to the barrel aquaponics system. We took out some pipe and added a Venturi to help aerate the water. The Venturi works by water passing through a pipe with holes in the side to pull air down the pipe and out of the bottom to be deposited into the water. It’s likely that the reason your pepper plants are not growing well is because they are using up too much energy with the 1st crop of peppers. Sacrifice the first one or two that show up to allow the plant to use that energy to grow taller/stronger.
Would you get finer air bubbles off your venturi if the hole u drilled were smaller and the flow rate higher?

all my outdoor systems are doing fine, and i actually top off all the tanks with my rain water collection system. i havent had any trouble with my rain water affecting my systems in any way.

rain changes ph, and lowers the concentration of nutrients.
