My raised bed gardens I built this year. They are constructed of 2"x12" boards and are 8’x4′.

Question by Jim F: growing cantelope in a raised garden bed?
I’m new to gardening. I built a 12 inch deep raised garden bed and I’ve planted 4 cantelopes in it. Will these plants spread and yield more than one cantelope, or will each one stay contained and just yield one cantelope?

  1. i grow them in raised beds. i grow the upward. i have a wire fence behind them and the plant will climb it. you will need some support for the lopes, but i just use some old cut up t shirts and make a sling for the ccantaloupes the will separate when ripe and the sling will keep them from falling to the ground. i usually get 3-4 per plant.
