  5. sounds like you maybe watering your tomato plants to often, and need more sun than 4hr/day, plus you shouldn’t cluster your tomatoes, i explain in the video. We have had several weeks of rain here, and taken its toll on the tomato plants but a couple of days with temps in the 90s brought them back growing again.

  6. how many hours of daylight do you think tomatoes need? (I live in S.E. Asia and I only have a balcony that receives around 4 hours of direct sunlight a day…)
I tried growing quite a few tomatoes plants, albeit very clustered, but they somehow turned yellow at around 40cm in height right, leaves broke off very easily from the stem and they all died at different times!! Do you have any advice to stop myself repeating this?
    thanks in advance!

  7. i went overboard with them. Put about 8 plants in one bucket. They are just starting to develop so will have to transfer to other pots.. Thanks. Also, I am over 70 and cannot drive. Do you have another way to stop blossom rot on the toms besides lime? I, m looking for a home remedy..such as baking soda or epsoms salt.I heard that was good for the soil.

  12. do the buckets and wheelbarrow damage the deck? It has to always be wet under the buckets. If someone was a renter the landlord may get upset. Also, the split skins may be from not getting enough calcium. I use gypsum, lime, miraclegrow for tomotes and dynamite. It may be over kill but I haven’t had any spit skins this year. Thanks so much. Do you have any vids of the band?

  15. Also found 15 5-gallong empty plant buckets waiting to be thrown out behind our Waldbaums. Gave them a good cleaning and we are set to grow. We’ve also rescued a couple of flowering plants that this store was going to throw away because they were wilted and gave them new life. They’re drop-dead gorgeous!

  16. We built a raised garden this year, started just about everything from seed. We have lots of different tomato plants that look gorgeous. We have some tomatoe plants in pails, as well as peppers, lavender, just planted celery. We’ve also created two salad bowls, which are doing better in the planters than in the garden, so we plowed them under and replaced them with unions in the raised bed. We also have corn, beans and peas.

  21. hmm. never used a pump to grow tomatoes, but my soil quality riveled that of the dirt pile in the middle of an elementary school bus stop. Over the growing season since i posted this howto vid, i have answered this question several times. I dont live on a farm,, nor do i have access to manure or aged compost but science is my friend, so i use it, and so do the tomatoes, taste great, but i only have 12 years experience growing tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets this way.

  22. I enjoyed your video and like your garden very much but why use miracle grow on anything other than your flowers? Do you plan on eating those tomatoes or do just like growing nice looking fruit? I would never eat anything pumped with miracle grow…
