baaaaa
Goats are cool, but what would be the purpose of farming them?
To get milk, to slaughter or just keep as pets?
And yes to me the answer makes a difference.
Other usages than being a pet, I would not help you with the info you require.
Goats milk sucks, goat meat taste like crap, the only thing left would be a pet farm.
Ha-ha I know some people with a goat farm, they made it a petting zoo type thing, real cool and nice.
A mini horse farm is cool too, I had one of those little bastards buck me off. 0.o

I raise meat goats in the U.S.A., and have since 1999. If the U.S.A. slaughtered every single goat in this country, it wouldn’t meet a month’s worth of demand for goat meat here in the U.S.A.
Millions of tons of goat meat are imported from Australia every year, to meet the demand for goat meat in the U.S.A.
1) what is goat farming
Goat farming in Australia is almost always to raise meat goats (vs. dairy goats), since there is such a demand to export the goat meat.
2) what all steps need to take to start goat farming business
Find a successful goat farmer in Australia to take you under their wing and teach you the ropes of raising goats in Australia.
3) how to approch and whom to approch to get more suggestion in this field
Start to attend livestock auctions and get to know the ranchers who raise goats in Australia. Note: If you are ethnic (meaning not white) you are unlikely to find a single rancher in Australia willing to help you out. I’m sure I’ll get thumbs down for that, but I’m simply stating the facts.
4) wht is the inital investment and how we can expand business
Initial investment is as high, or low as you desire. In the U.S.A., I started with just three goats, and a three acre farm. I have over 100 goats now, and a 40 acre farm (soon to expand to 80 acres).
5) how much knowledege we should have to start this business
I studied about meat goats, their illnesses, dietary needs, housing needs, ways to manage them, ect for two full years before I invested in my first three goats.
Most people don’t read more than a few sentences about them, or perhaps a single magazine article, before investing in their goats. Most people are out of the goat business within the year, having lost thousands of dollars.
I am one of the extremely rare successful commercial meat goat farmers…that’s because I did my homework before I got my first goats. It’s also because in the 10 years I’ve raised goats I’ve NEVER stopped learning about them, and changing my management of the herd to better suit their needs, while reducing cost, and improving their health.
