clear pex tube is an awesome way to go for DIY and experimental use but once you get the perfect system I would use compression fittings. I used compression fittings with my pump but my system differs from yours because my pump has a flow control built on the pump.
you mentioned if the pex quick connect leaks how to fix it. there should have been a little black eyelet in the packaging with the pix quick connect, that gets inserted inside the clear pex tube to keep the clear pex tube “in round” at all times to prevent leakage.
I had one heck of a time figuring out how to drain my totes so all the water drained out and now I am going to find a more permanent method than is not “iffy”
Seems like flooding the trays for an hour a day would harm the seedlings since those peat pots or whatever would stay wet all day long. I wish they would revisit this topic and up date it. The music was a bit to loud when she was doing the part on seeds.
Love the idea and I’m hoping to start making my own. But if you want to be even more “green” you should run the system more during the night. Because during the day that is the peak times the most energy is being used and this puts more stress on producing this energy from processing plants that make your energy. So if you set your timer at night you will save more energy in the long run. Just a thought to consider 🙂

Total Cost? If I were to go buy all of it new at home cheapo…
too bad there wasn’t an update to this video! So I guess she floods the containers for an hour and then lets it drains back into the tank. I have never seen the pods being submerged for so long, but I guess it worked for her. Close to 4 years since this was up loaded, maybe there will be an update.
Garden Girl, always wanted to start a hydroponic garden, but always looked to difficult.after seeing how easy you made it I will make a space downstairs next month and start one.thank you
ps thank you also for all the videos you make.was told about you by a friend of ours,so I will be checking out all of the GARDENGIRL videos.

would love to see how you made this system! I have been looking for simple DIY systems like yours. How did you set up the drainage for the water?
