DWC Hydroponics Bucket System

www.fyihydroponics.com Probably the simplest, cheapest, most effective system you can build. The constant supply of air increases the oxygen supply to the roots stimulating exceptional growth. Easy to build (just drill one .25 inch hole!), cheap and works great – what could be better?

  1. Getting plenty of air 24/7? Water temp too low or high? I keep around 70 F. Also, especially for young plants, keep water level high enough to cover rooting area.

  2. I’ve had some trouble keeping my plants alive. They get about 3-5 in. tall then die. I keep my levels good.. I’m lost as to why.

  6. I hope he does use hydroponics because, after watching part of the “Bad Lieutenant” – I know he can’t act worth a crap! I can’t wait to miss the next Nicolas Cage movie!

  8. Ebb and flow is more efficient, but if you want the best you have to splurge

  10. I don’t care what anyone says. Properly grown DWC is the best method for growing plants. Ebb and Flow might be easier, but I know for a fact that the results are much better with DWC.

    TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!

  11. i had a dream i saw tomatoe plants being grow in scientific glass jars entirely underwarter with air bublers. IT looked like those science jars they use to store specimens in. i’m gonna try it and see how it goes. that would be interesting to try growing plants entirely underwater using waterproof lights. don’t tell me it won’t work untill you have experimented and tried it

  12. try the aeroponic bucket method its the most water efficient system after than soil and coir. you can run 4mm tubing with sprinklers through the lid of each bucket from an external res and have it drain back to the res from the buckets.

  13. Because there is more than one way to do anything, and some people like to experiment. I myself am a soil grower, but that is because it is safe/forgiving. I have seen some pretty crazy monsters come from DWC. I can agree and disagree with you at the same time. You will get the exact same quality, but in quantity due to the plants vegging much faster, You would then either have larger plants in by flower, or could veg less time.

  14. You could put something like marbles, glass blocks, or many other items inside the bucket in the beginning to displace water.

  15. used to have 24-32g per plant… with that exact system it’s 120 to 150g per plant.

The kind of plant that you smoke and lissent to some bob marley!

  16. Exactly right! Without nutrient level and replenishment control you have to maintain the level and nutrient management, for each bucket, on a daily basis. Great system for experiments if you can make time to check it everyday.

  17. Because there is a constant supply of air (oxygen) to the plant’s roots via the air pump and air stone. If you stop the air supply, the plant will die fairly fast.

  18. dwc is not the most water efficient system for small plants. if each bucket hold 20 litres of water that is quite inefficient and labour intensive for filling and draining.

  19. black buckets work best…the white buckets tend to allow light in which causes the water to get a bit green.

  20. I did a 2 bucket setup just like this for 2 sago palms. The only difference is my buckets are black, otherwise identical. Thanks for the sharing this. I’m thinking about joining the buckets with a water pump for more circulation.

  21. Do you understand what “hydro” actually is? Coco peat is a hydroponic medium. I have been growing since 1984 using soil inside and out, rockwool, expanded clay balls, coco peat, airoponics, vermiculite, perlite… you name it, I’ve tried it. I know what works best. DWC works, no doubt about it, just that there are better methods. When the value of the end product is what it is with most hydro crops, it is worth working out exactly what gives the best yield. DWC doesn’t

  22. Hydro scales up way way better. Would you rather fill up 100 buckets of dirt or a hundred buckets of water? Plus, free water and $20 in nutrients is way cheaper than soil or coca (and you still need the nutrients)
