Question by truebluewolf: Does anyone know where to get non-dairy cheese or goats cheese?
My son is lactose intolerant and I would love to get him cheese so that he can eat some of the things he watches everyone else eat. He does good with goats milk but I am trying to find something that is not grated. I know that mexican food stores have goats cheese but it is all grated cheese, which is good for soup but that is about it. Soy cheese would work too if they sell such a cheese. I have looked and called everywhere I can think of and searched the interent. I just can’t beleive that there is no goats cheese or soy cheese.
Feel free to answer in the comment section below

There is goat cheese that isnt grated. Check suppermarkets, maybe waitrose if u are in the uk, but most US suppermarkets should have them. Try tofu, its like soy cheese. It can sometimes be found in suppermarkets. There is also soy milk and yogurts in supermarkets but more importantly, search health stores, I am sure they have a bigger range. If u live in the uk try holland and barret but there are a ton more. You May also find milk reduced in lactose with very little lactose for ur son to enjoy.Where do u live? Maybe I can give better recomendations then. But anyway, good luck, search the supermarkets and health food stores and u should find a lot of these products

I’m not sure where you are, but this goat cheese farm is in Southern Indiana near where I live. I know the owner’s son. Everything is made by them, by hand with homegrown ingredients. I’m sure they can ship within the U.S. Here’s the email address: caprioleinc@aol.com

You can find soy cheese at Kroger, Tom Thumb, Stater Brothers, Albertson’s and Walmart. It’s usually in the produce section, where they have tofu. It comes in individually wrapped slice packages (Swiss, cheddar, American, Pepper Jack) and also shredded. I saw it yesterday at Kroger in chunks too….. Feta cheese will also work for him. I’m also lactose-intolerant and absolutely LOVE Breyer’s Lactose-Free Natural Vanilla ice cream! Most lactose-intolerant people can tolerate yogurt, so frozen yogurt is good too; or sorbet (not sherbet – it has dairy) ….. Lactaid milk tastes just like regular milk; and vanilla or chocolate soy milk is pretty good (8th Continent is better than Silk) … (btw: the lactaid pills and drops don’t work)
