Asteraceae – Western Cape Province, South Africa
Gorteria
Shown: Detail of flowers and foliage; raised, dark swellings at the base of one or more ray florets are characteristic of the the species; these swellings are believed to have evolved in mimicry of the appearance of the natural pollinator of G. diffusa, a bee-fly (Megapalpus nitidus); for a discussion of this theory, see:

"Gorteria is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family. It was named in honour of the dutch physicists and botanists Johannes de Gorter and his son David de Gorter." (Wikipedia)

Question by : Do you like my poem? What do you think it means?
Inspire a generation
Get Lisa off her knees

Think of all the money
Trying to avoid the squeeze

If that could raise a surplus
And you could spend it as you please

What would you compete for,
When going like busy bees?
Sosha – yes I did and thank you for noticing. Wanting to reach as broad an audience as possible, as our current economics and society represent our chance and need to compete for something worthwhile, at the same time as the Olympics.
