A work of art by my hubby. 4’x8′, stained by yours truly. It’s actually a sealer for the wood, but tinted a red oak color.
Question by Rockstar Sammie: Do you have to get permission to have chickens from your city or something?
So if I live in Seattle (in the city) and have a backyard (not a huge one, but enough to have a chicken cage and more), am I allowed to even have chickens? And then onwards, does my family have to get a like license or permission?
Yeah I know, weird, chickens in the city.

yes most states require a permit for something of that sort when it is in town, sorry I can’t tell you where to go to get something like that but I know you will need one

Chickens in the city is a new trend. A lot of people are raising special breeds of chickens. But you’ll have to call up your local government and ask if it’s allowed. Then you’ll have to call your homeowner’s association and ask again.

Were I live they allow chickens in the city we didn’t have to get a license or permission here.

In my city, you don’t need permission to keep hens, but you can’t have roosters (too noisy). For your city, contact your local Animal Control office and ask them.

Yes, you sure do or you will get in trouble. Most places only allow you to have chickens in an area that is zoned as agricultural or where you are allowed to have birds like that or livestock/farm animals.

You need to contact the city government. This is a good time to consider keeping chickens in an urban setting—-many municipalities are allowing hens. Check here: http://www.seattle.gov/council/urbanagriculture/chickens_in_city.htm
