This was supposed to be a pic of her stacking nicely. She did not agree.

Question by Alisa: Do show goats have to go to the meat market?
I want to show a goat but what else is there to do with the goat other than to auction it off to the meat market?

  1. You can rent out your goat to people who need to remove vegetation around their homes to create a fire break.

  2. You can simply pay for it in the mean time.

  3. If you show in the dairy class you don’t have to sell it, same with fiber.

  4. Well I know where I live we only show boers. And you can keep it as a pet, or if you get a doe you can keep her to use as a nanny do in the future you won’t have to buy any.

  5. Where i show, you can auction the goat off if you place high enough but u get to keep the goat and do what ever you want to with it (keep it as a pet, breed it (if it is a doe; bucks have to be wethered for market), sale it, show it in other shows (until it is one year if wethered; does can be showed in breed classes), or send it to the butcher).
