Question by : Do ducks lay eggs regularly like chickens?
I’ve had chickens for years and I know hens lay an egg a day or every other day. I’ve heard duck eggs taste better then hen eggs and are worth more. I want to raise ducks for eggs soon, but i don’t know if they lay eggs regularly. So, do female ducks lay eggs regularly?

  2. Yes-ish depending on the breed…but still nothing like a chicken, the best of Hen ducks still will only give you 200 or so eggs a year very rarely will you find ducks that will give you more then that & almost only by the breeds or crosses listed below.

Khaki Campbell & Runner ducks lay a good amount of eggs for a Duck
& also so will Golden 300 Hybrids & White Golden Layers which were developed by Metzer Farms

  3. Ducks don’t really continuously lay eggs like chickens. They will lay one or two eggs a day until they have a full clutch. A clutch will vary with each duck and can be anywhere from 8 to 15 eggs. The female duck will only start sitting on the nest after she has laid a full clutch of eggs.

  4. Ducks will lay for quiet a while as long as the eggs are removed each day but they do taKe a long break before they produce again. But turkey eggs are better! More protin and cleaner taste, same amount of egg volume.

  5. Hmm, it sounds like ducks won’t give you the same quantity of eggs as chickens. Would you still keep your chickens if you bought a duck? I hope so, as they’re such great animals.
