Question by Winnnnny poo: Decided to raise goats or sheep?
I have decided to put our around 25-30,000 square foot area to raise some sort of animal. A horse lived there before, two for a little bit (to explain the space)
We haven’t decided what kind of animal to get. Goats or sheep are my thoughts but any others?

How about some caged-free chickens for egg purposes so that you know you aren’t buying eggs from places that treat their animals cruelly? Plus the image of me or sending my kids out to fetch some eggs for morning breakfast just warms my heart. 🙂

I raise goats and I LOVE them! They are so much fun. I have Nigerian Dwarfs and they have such wonderful and sweet personalities!
I would suggest before you decide, you should visit local farms that have the animals you are interested in! Plus, it is a great way to network with other breeders!
Good luck!

Considering 30000 square feet is just over half and acre one sheep or one goat could be on it, this is because there would not be enough grazing area for more. if you had more than one or possibly two it would get grazed down to the ground quickly. You could raise rabbits there, they don’t take much area for hutches. I have rabbits and a couple goats, but I have 7 acres and working on getting 20 more acres.
