The title says nothing about Southern Corn bread. And how traditional or ‘Southern’ do you wanna go. Nothing but water and corn meal maybe some salt? I went through tons of recipes for Cornbread once and realized who ever bakes it, a hundred years ago or ten minutes ago, you’ll never find a conclusive official recipe. And everyone has there own idea of real cornbread.
The best thing about this recipe is the lack of gadgets. Great for people like me.
I hate those cooks who can only cook with expensive mixers and blenders. They would be utterly useless off grid.
good little trick if some of you are having the problem with the bottom sticking. Get some cooking wax paper (Reynolds has really get kind but kinda pricey but well worth it) put the dish you are going to use on top of it and trace out the shape of the bottom (DO NOT USE MARKER, PENS OR PENCILS, SIMPLY USE A TOOTHPICK OR EVEN A SMALL KNIFE) cut that shape out and it should fit into the bottom of your pan no problem, oil the pan before placing the wax paper then oil the top of the paper.
giigle, sorry about that. If you have lived in Lafayette all your life you may not have the blood but you definitely have everything else there is in a Cajun. I will ask my Son to help me figure out the vid thing. Again I am a bit camera shy plus my kitchen is very small but I will figure something out. I am going to attempt to make homemade french bread this weekend for the first time every. How do I message with you on here so our conversation is not on this page?
My parents are from Kansas and Missouri but i’ve lived in Lafayette, Louisiana my whole life. I’m not on Twitter but you should start posting videos. Spread some of the good Louisiana food world wide! Also, I’m a guy too but it’s ok. I can’t blame you for calling me ma’am on a cooking video. =P
Yes ma’am, full blooded. I want to start posting vids but I’m a bit camera shy. I recently started a twitter page with the same name and profile pic. If your on it, look me up.. You know as a Cajun cook we don’t know recipes or measurements LOL
