Cooking onion in the turkey with a roaster?

Question by jchrist81285: Cooking onion in the turkey with a roaster?
If I stuff the turkey with onion garlic lemon and some seasonings, will you taste onion and lemon in your turkey? I do not like the taste of onion and lemon.
I am making the turkey in my hamilton beach roaster and I am not sure if I can put stuffing in it or not. Has anyone ever used a roaster for their turkey. How did you cook it and what did you stuff it with.

  1. Yes, the flavour of the onion will infuse it’s self into the flavour of the turkey. It might not be a strong flavour-but it will definitely be present.

  2. If you don’t like those then don’t use them..you don’t put them in side the turkey you put them underneath the skin on top of the turkey and yes you can make dressing for the turkey by using crumble up bread some sage and salt and pepper and eggs to make and you stuff the turkey and you cook this longer then what it says on the packages..and yes you can put this in the roaster too..you cook it like you do in the oven..have fun..=)

  3. You cvn stuff it, but I would go woth the onion and such. It will have a good flavor and bot taste overrly like onion.

In the cavity I would add onion, garlic, celery, an apple, and some fresh sage leaves. This will help keep the bird moist And add great flavor, but not to much falvor from any of the items in the cavity.

    Happiest in the kitchen.

Wash turkey in cold water, drain well in the sink place on rack in roasting pan take a stick of butter soften in microwave about 10 seconds rub Turkey inside and out using paper towel dipping in soft butter salt inside and out lightly if you want stuffing you can make your own using sage bre toateded bread cubes and/or crumbled cornbread sage, thyme celery onion, butter chicken broth or can of cream of chicken soup2 beaten egss salt & pepper many like to boil the gibles chop and add to stuffing ( Do not add the liver too strong tasting)r You can use pepperidge farm stuffing in a bag and follow directions. u can also use stove top if u wish… you can dress up your stuffing by chopping 3 stalks celery and 1onion fry in butter or margarine add to stuffing can also fry up a pound jimmy dean sage sausage and add to your stuffing Truss bird and tie legs together and tie wings around bird with white cotton string .. roast.. covered with foil 325 degrees (get a meat thermomter and stick in thickest part of breast ) check about very hour to hour and a half and baste bird when legs move easily turkey is done remove foil raise oven temp to 375 -400 baste and brown.. I love garlic lemons and onions but not on or in my turkey of course onions are great in the stuffing Turkey is a delicate meat EDIT just noticed you are using a roaster put turkey in roaster put cover on and roast proceed as above Youcan put your stuffing in a pan and bake it seperately if you like After you make your first turkey you are on your way!!
