Worked for us. We waited much longer to harvest than what was required actually. 😉 Good luck if you try it. This year we are using straw instead of soil in the box. Shall see if this works well or not. 🙂 – Randy
A little tip for your next box. Drag your screw threads across a dry bar of soap, capturing some in the threads. It will screw into the wood like butter.
not sure if I’ve done a follow up but it did work. we used it for 2 seasons like that. this year we took it apart and changed it. will show the changes in an upcoming video when we plant our potatoes. thanks. ~Amanda
We have another video with us planting the potatoes… also you can see progress with our most recent update videos. 😉 Since this is our first year doing potatoes we have no idea the outcome. We should know soon.
Yeah, i might have to stick to tires if I decide to do potatoes next year… I’m not handy enough to make something like that. 😛 but if i ever find myself a carpenter friend I’ll have to show them this video and put them to work.

Did it work?
Youtube seems to be full of people who tried this method and only reap a handful of potatoes

We cover the entire plant and just to confirm, this idea did work out well. Next year we plan on doing a few modifications to the box.

This looks like such a cool idea!
When you bury the plants to you cover the most of the leave and just leave the tops out?
