  1. I have seen tomatoes that have been grown hydroponically which is by roots in water. I also was in a shop that had plants growing in water. My room mate and I had willow trees rooting in water and never got them planted in dirt and they stayed alive for months (6-8)

  2. Growing fish and plants together has been done for a long time in some parts of the world,
    and may be the way to provide food for a long space journey.
