Feeding time for the tigers at the South Lakes Animal Park. Chickens are placed on top of poles to give the tigers a little excercise when it comes to getting their lunch.

Question by : Cheapest way to feed chickens?
I need a cheaper way to feed my chickens, since they aren’t bringing in a profit from their eggs. I have 6 Buff Orpintions (2.5 years old), 4 White Leghorns(almost 1 year old) (all should be laying) and 1 Austrolop rooster (age unknown). What nutrients do they need to lay?

  1. Do your chickens like fruits or vegetables if they do try giving them mashed up fruits like rasberries or blueberries or any fruit they like or vegetable like squash I hope it helped!

  2. If you try to economise on food, your chickens will lay fewer eggs. It takes a lot of resources to lay an egg most days and if you put rubbish in at one end, very few eggs will come out of the other. Buff Orpingtons are not a good breed to choose if you are mainly concerned with eggs for profit, get some egglaying hybrids instead. And of course if your economic margins are tight, get I rid of the rooster, who is useless at laying!
