This is exactly the way my grandmother, mother and i make them. We do 1/2 gallons with
2 cups grapes and 1 cup sugar. At Christmas, it’s ready. We do strain the grapes before
drinking. Excellent!
@Dustycajungurl Sorry this took so long to reply… buy re: the grape juice canning, you do NOT have to water bath it. Just make sure everything is very hot! Shelf life… not sure. We usually drink it within a year. But, make sure you don’t try to drink it for 3 months after you make it. It needs time to turn flavored. Also, strain the grapes before drinking.
Thank you! This is easy, fast, and involves equipment we already own! I can’t wait to try it! My mother told me her grandmother used to serve grape juice from a jar and she remembers all the skins floating at the bottom. This sounds like the same process.
