You are supposed to worm your chicken at least 4 times a year

  1. Wow! That’s a new one. Medicated chicken food?

I’ve kept chickens for over 40 years. Most of mine have lived for 8 years, and they’ve never had medicated chicken food or wormer.

I wouldn’t like to eat eggs from medicated chickens – & certainly wouldn’t feed them to my grandchildren.

  2. My chicks eat medicated chick starter until they are about 5 months old and when they start laying eggs, I switch to layer crumbles and chicken scratch. Never given them wormer and they are producing delicious eggs!!

  3. I have been keeping chickens for 6 years, have never wormed or medicated them as grown chickens and they all do just fine. If you must medicate and worm your chickens though, then I think that when in doubt about chemicals, go the safer route. Worming and medicating them on the same day might be too much for their systems. But I’m no expert on medicating birds. You might get a better answer from an avian vet or a feed store employee.
