Question by wgeneski: Can I keep pygmy goats and chickens together in the same shed/coup?
Your Question
I am thinking about raising a couple of pygmy goats. Can I keep goats and chickens in the same shed?
I am just wondering if I can keep pygmy goats and chickens together in the same shed as long as it is big enough for both. I was thinking like 2 goats and 4-5 chickens? Anyone know if this would be a problem keeping them together?

What do you think? Answer below!

  1. I had goats years ago and the farm where I purchased them from had goats and chickens living together and sharing the barn. The nest boxes were separate though and enclosed in chicken wire ~ to keep out predators more than the goats.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the goats offered some protection to the chickens as well. “Some”… I think unless you have a Llama, or guardian dog, anything can fall prey to coyotes.

  2. yes, but poultry food is poisonous to goats so be sure to feed them separately. (or just feed the chickens goat food)
