Amazing! I accidently had one who was growing outside in my compost bin after many freezing nights and 1 snowfall. But I think the compost made a climate zone for it. Possibly just warm enough to germinate and survive. In Aquaponics I’m guessing that your rocks were holding the heat from the water and radiating a slightly warmer climate zone. I’m coming over to see your avocado updates. Flat out amazing!

i placed 2 avocado stones into a aquaponics growbed about 1 year ago. 1 grew nicely and still going well, it even survived some snowfall. Tough plant.
Thanks frozen thats horrible. I will continue waging war on ant hills. Life long facination since childhood. 😉

Pretty cool!
As far as the ant and its relationship with the aphid, I believe they farm them (not kidding). They actually protect and herd them like sheep. In retrun, the aphid’s put out a sweet milky substance which the ants love.
