This loosens the feathers from the skin. The chickens are already dead at this point, so don’t worry.

Question by waterdrops9: Broiler chicken doesn’t crow-?
My male broiler chicken is 3 1/2 months old. It doesn’t crow yet. Will it ever crow? If not- why doesn’t it crow? I also have a female chicken of the same age and she doesn’t lay eggs yet. They look physically grown enough to do these things but they don’t do it yet.
My mother’s friend said they brought them from the farm. (I wasn’t there when they were at the farm) They call them broiler chickens. I’m not sure what breed they are but they were yellow when they were babies and now they have white feathers.
