We add compost to our soil to quickly increase the number and diversity of these microbes and small animals, organic matter content, and nutrients in our soil.

  1. you should check out Vermicomposting. Much much more organic and fresh worm casting have live beneficial microorganisms in it. Also much more sustaining If you have your own.

  2. When getting free (or) low-cost compost from a city facility, always ask for a listing of ingredients. Push for specifics. Question everything.

    Kellogg, a major retail brand that markets organic soil/compost includes sewage sludge in their Amend product.

    Organic soil labeling standards are quite different from those required in organic produce.

  4. Toxic sewage sludge is being added to municipal composting products. Watch out for euphemistic language like “biosolids” which is a industry soft term for sewage sludge.
