I made a DIY Steam Wax Melter – extractor using: wall paper steamer, 2x ratchet straps, 2x old wooden beehive floor, varroa mesh and bee hive brood box. V high extraction rate (95%) and very easy to make. Only issue is the energy it uses – basically like boiling a kettle. Enjoy…. : ) I’ve just finished painting a Solar Wax Melter a friend helped me make – see link below from beesource website. I’ll upload the video of it working when I get it on site. www.beesource.com
I was despairing because the solar extractor I made isn’t that good, then I tried this today and it worked like magic! I put foil on the floorboard and an entrance restricter over this. Then instead of a varroa mesh floor I used one of those meshes you can buy for moving bees. A deep on top of that and then a lid I made out of old wood with a tight fitting hole for the hose, ratchet straps and a pan to catch it, and bingo! Many thanks Mick, I’ll check your solar melter out next.

Glad you like video. Actually, I no loger use the steam wax melter – as the solar wax melter I have made is far more efficient and can melt 28 super frames in one go. I will up load video so you can see it in action…
