Bake perfect French Bread in ten minutes

And you thought bread baking was hard? It only takes ten minutes to make this scrumptious french bread! Follow this recipe: Four cups unbleached bread flour 1 tbsp salt 1 tbsp yeast warm water as needed Makes two loaves or 16 rolls.   4. You can get the same effect for a flaky crust by using a spray bottle of water and misting it every 10 mins while baking.

  5. Thank you as this turned out awesome!!! It is quite a bit of bread for 2 of us and of course I could give one away, but will this be OK to freeze as I would like to make some more and have it for when we have family over?

  10. Any time you create superheated steam it is dangerous. And I would not use this method in an electric oven. The heating element could break!

  15. I agree however, would you put in a pan of water to make the “steam” if you have an electric oven? I doubt if throwing water on electric elements of an electric oven would be a good idea.

  19. Add milk. The essence of French Bread is the crust. For a wonderful chewy soft texture add milk and butter. Say a cup of milk and a stick of butter.

  21. Great comments and advice. Thanks. I am a miserable failure at sourdough. I have tried over and over again. I have cultures from the original island in Italy that is supposedly the source of the California sour culture that is so famous. I have a sneaking suspicion that most bakeries actually use sour flavoring. 🙂

  22. Only people who do not bathe, or who turn off the shower to wash themselves, then back on again to rinse, have the right to say a word about anyone’s water use.

    Besides, the water is not being “wasted”. Resources to re-treat it, yes. But the water cycle remains intact.

  23. I love how friendly and unpretentious your presentation is. You took the ridiculous “enigma” of baking bread out of the process. As a culture, we somehow got the idea that cooking is hard… I just made creamed Swiss Chard… it was delicious and EASY! Now Ia m going to make some French Bread! Thanks so much!

  25. OMG! the end of the video when you put butter on it and then bit into it and you could hear how crispy and crunchy the outside is just made me giggle! It looks….and sounds so awesome. I too would like to know if you have a sourdough version of this recipe. Also just wanted to say ignor all of the people who want to criticize and tell you how to do things cuz guess what? YOU’RE the one who is actually DOING something & they are just running their mouths. Great job and thanks for the video.
